Telin Data Centre Hub

2016

Telin Data Centre Hub is a newly built data centre and offices. The area for Interior Design scope is focused on approximately 850sqm of space located at Level 01 and mezzanine level, comprising of the main entrance lobby, Innovation Room, Network Operating Centre (NOC), Facility Offices, Meeting Rooms, Conference Room, Pantry, BMS and Security Office.

The double volume reception lobby greets arriving guests and staff. Within this large space a ‘pod’ of glass fronted meeting rooms overlooks the reception, waiting area and a "7 meter height" waterfall provides visual and aural stimulation. The water feature using a combination of clear laminated and textured glass on steel frame gives transparency between the lobby and Innovation room. The timber decking on water pond leads to the high technology Innovation Room.

A ‘matrix inspired’ feature wall and ceiling provides the dominant design element. Finished in light reconstituted oak timber veneer this feature is a deliberate collaboration of angular dynamic form and warm materiality to reflect the ethos of the company. The feature timber panel was also used to conceal M&E Services such as Aircon supply and return grill, sprinkler heads and indirect light fittings.

As part of the client's requirements, being Indonesian based company they desire to bring local indigenous materials such as Indonesian lava stone. Natural organic finishes that require low maintenance were used. Example of such are resuscitated moss used for the vertical garden and high pressure plastic laminate in timber pattern.

Part of the challenge was to achieve the required lighting budget for a Greenmark Platinum certified project whilst not compromising the lux level and design intent for each workspace. With the strategic installation of concealed LED light fittings within the feature timber panels and ceiling, this challenge was successfully overcome.
