Keppel Distripark comprises of 4 blocks of a 2-storey Container Freight Station (CFS) Building, 1 block of 4-storey office buildings, stacking yards, chasis parks and other related facilities.
Part of the particularly stringent brief was to make these structures of unusually large-scaled proportions, appear as part of non-industrial human-scaled complex, as the site is adjacent to neighbouring residential areas. The 3 storey structures are designed to appear as only 1 storey on top of a ground floor, thereby effectively reducing the mass of each building.
The use of suspension structures liberated the vast expanse of spaces within, for easy access container storage and projected a nautical imagery in keeping with the port across the main road. In view of the importance of the site location, the design of the mast and suspension structure gives a festive appearance when seen from the surrounding roads and devices of noise-screening, as well as visual screening from existing residential development are also incorporated into the overall planning.
