This project involves the conversion of the UOB Service Apartments and Office Building in Xiamen to an international hotel. The original building, which was completed in 1996, was planned to be flexible for conversion to apartments or suites to suit evolving market conditions.
The existing bank premises remain on the ground floor with its own separate access. Besides from the various hotel lounges and restaurants, there are also spa facilities and a gymnasium on the 3rd storey. There are full business facilities with a business centre and ample meeting rooms.
Completed in 2005, the refurbishment works involve a new glass canopy designed to address the main entrance to the hotel, which has a double volume lobby with an added full height water feature. A void is created at the reception lobby area to enhance the spatial quality. New cladding works are done to the existing façade to create an openness from the interior.
