The Balestier Medical Center is conceived as a health care centre that provided a comprehensive hospital and outpatient services under one roof. It emphasizes on health promotion, primary health services and cost-effective treatment procedure.

Located at the junction of Balestier Road and Mandalay Road, the 5-Storey building is seen as an assemblage of simple cubic forms. Completed in a palette of light colours, it projects an image of simplicity and cleanliness associated with health services.

The interior planning emphasizes on the concept of efficiency, to facilitate the ease of human circulation, usage and maintenance. The fairly neutral palette of materials and colours used, also added to a more casual and therapeutic interior atmosphere.
