The Marina at Keppel Bay is located on a small island within Keppel Harbour. The Marina is not only a functional facility for the residents of the Keppel developments, pleasure boaters and the public at large, but also serves as a visual high point – a visual high point for the up-market residences to focus into.
With only a small GFA allowance given to the building, an early decision was to make use of height to create presence. A multi-faceted Dome structure of varying heights was selected. One of the faceted Dome to be in tensile fabric forming in effect a wind-filled Spinnaker. ( This facet of the Dome also acts as the covered vehicular drop-off ).
Much care was taken in the design which blends in with the backdrop of the wooded hill behind the building. Thus, the highest point of the Dome building and mast was set at 22.70m below the hill and trees of Keppel Island.
