Sofitel Saigon Plaza Hotel,Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam
1998

The complex consists of a 20-Storey Hotel block providing 300 rooms, a 15-Storey Office block, both towers being linked by a 5-Storey podium.
Situated at the prominent Le Duan Boulevard at Ho Chi Minh City, the Office building is setback to provide prominence to the 5-Star Hotel and the sculptured approach to the podium.
By selection of materials, textures, colour, details and landscaping, the visitor is given the impression of a luxury hotel specific to Vietnam. The inspiration of the décor is being derived from the Hoi-an, the Chain Heritage and traditional Art and Craft of the country. The images of the fauna and flora of the country are also inspirations for the design being simplified into forms, patterns and textures. Such compositions are being emphasized by the controlled ingress of natural light to lead the eye through the Hotel’s public spaces.
