The Tropical Urban Data Centre – An Architecture of Efficiency and Sustainability

The architectural approach to the efficient and sustainable design and future proofing of Modern Data Centres is directly related to the accommodation and integration of ever changing technology and user demands.

However in tropical or semi-tropical urban contexts such as Singapore issues of extreme climate, land restriction, strict development guidelines and challenging environmental sustainable design criteria greatly influence the form, efficiency and flexibility of Data Centre design. The design response to these issues ultimately determining the capital cost of construction, the life cycle cost of operation, the ability to accommodate change and whether ideals of sustainability are achievable.
